What is the difference between Gartenhaus, Gartenbüro and Gartenstudio?

In German usage, Gartenhaus refers to classic garden sheds or simple summer cabins, typically log-cabin construction without year-round insulation. A Gartenbüro is built differently: fully insulated walls, residential-grade glazing, power and data connections, designed for year-round home-office work. The term Gartenstudio is often used synonymously, but leans more toward creative or wellness use. We build Konvel consistently as a Gartenbüro: SIP construction, GEG-compliant U-value, engineered for daily work.

Do I need a building permit?

In North Rhine-Westphalia, garden offices up to 75 m³ gross volume are permit-free. Our Solo and Studio models therefore generally do not require a building permit. For the Workstation, and for other federal states, we review the requirements with you in advance.

How long does the build take?

Most customers plan three to four weekends for the self-build. Our video series walks you step by step through every phase, from site preparation to interior fit-out.

Can I heat Konvel year-round?

Yes. SIP construction with high-quality insulation supports year-round use. We can optionally integrate electric wall heating or infrared panels.

What does delivery cost?

We deliver the self-build kit across Germany. The travel surcharge is itemised transparently in the individual offer. You handle the build yourself — we are happy to introduce local trades for foundation or assembly if you prefer.

Question 7

Which cladding will I get?

Accepted Answer

By default 19 mm European spruce, untreated. Vertical larch or WPC are available as premium upgrades and are swapped before delivery. We confirm the right option with you in the configurator.

Question 8

Do I need to treat the cladding myself?

Accepted Answer

For spruce, yes — the cladding is delivered raw and sealed on site with wood oil or stain. We show the process in our video series and can introduce local trades on request. Larch and WPC are lower-maintenance options.

Question 9

Where is the garden office manufactured?

Accepted Answer

We manufacture in EU workshops using EU materials. Consultation runs from North Rhine-Westphalia, delivery across Germany.
